What Is Orienteering and How Do I Get Started?

An adventurous, physically and mentally challenging navigation sport that the whole family can enjoy. Orienteering events are held in parks and streets all over Melbourne, and in the Victorian bush. You can run or walk, and there are mountain bike events as well.

To get started, we recommend you choose some park/street events near you - for a current calendar, go to street.orienteering.com.au/. You don't need any special equipment or skills to take part in these events, and you can compete as an individual, or with friends or family.

Once you've done some events, you can join a club (see JOIN DROC for our Membership form).

If you would like to try orienteering in the bush or on a mountain bike, go to the OVIC CALENDAR link for event details. For those events you'll need a compass. Coaching is available and there are courses to suit all abilities.

For more information, telephone 9878 9168 and ask for Ian or Debbie.
