DROC Rocks! At the traditional Queens Birthday weekend, held in the highly technical granite areas of Mt Korong and Kooyoora State Park, DROC were Rock Stars! On day 1, in extremely adverse weather conditions, we mastered the intricate courses at Korong Spur and took 4th place in the InterClub competition (the aptly named Rockhopper Trophy). Day 2 was at Kooyoora, with much longer, tougher courses. We conquered them well and truly, blasting our way to an unprecedented SECOND PLACE for the day in the Rockhopper tally. Only Bendigo could beat us as other more fancied clubs fell by the wayside. This hugely successful weekend saw us rock-et up the overall rankings from 8th to 5th, leapfrogging over TK, MF and EU.
Keep the momentum going: come along to the next State Series race at Lake Eppalock on Sunday July 19, a wonderful spur-gully map wth fast open forest. Then sign up for the Club Relays - this year close to Melbourne, at Plenty River, on Sun August 9. There's a team place for all abilities and its a great fun, social day out. With Rockhopper points at stake, we need YOU! See Debbie if you're available.

Mass Start Mass Finish Mystery Handicap Race (Sun April 26)
Results are in from the Mass Start Mass Finish Handicap event held at Napier Park. Wally's handicap system certainly produced some unexpected placings. Wally has analysed everyone's times over each of the two courses. Results can be found
Congratulations to Wally Cavill, who won an award in the Volunteer category of the Council on the Ageing's "Active At All Ages" awards. Wally was nominated by Orienteering Victoria for providing recreation opportunities for seniors, through Park and Street orienteering and through his Tuesday Walking group. There were 5 finalists in each category, and two were chosen as award recipients, so this is wonderful recognition for Wally.
